Inspecting a pump failure and making a repair diagnosis is one thing, but getting down to the “why” behind a pump failure is another. However, each failure can be traced back to a root cause, and discovering that root cause helps us deliver peace of mind to our customers. Depending on the severity of the failed pump’s condition and the estimated repair time, we do what we can to identify the source of failure to prevent it from happening again. “I am the maintenance manager of a major plastic processing facility. We use numerous amounts of different brand gear drives thru-out the company, this unit in the picture is one of many that Houston Pump & Gear not only repaired but upgraded the gearbox to run stronger then it did from O.E.M. This same unit also failed after hours around 9pm forcing one of our biggest processing machine’s into shutdown..
